There are times when it seems that life gives nothing back.
No reflection. No sign. Only wild movement and sometimes without mercy.
Stand anyway.
Not because you are certain.
Not because you know what lies beneath the surface of it all.
But because somewhere between fear and surrender, you have come to understand that faith is not a feeling. It is a flicker of light made in the darkest moments.
Line is cast; it disappears into immeasurable depths.
We place our hope quietly in places that have never answered us before, standing at the edge of things we cannot control. Silence is not necessarily absence. Silence is sometimes the loudest word of all.

‘Renunciation’ – Acrylic on Canvas – 610 x 405mm
The sea may not soften.
The wind may not cease.
There is no voice announcing ‘you will’!
But He stays, in the thick of it. His will.
Unchanged since the beginning of time; this is the Word.
Renunciation has nothing to do with defeat. Resigning to an illusion that ‘we’ are holding ourselves together is not weakness.
The clenched hand opens. Pride is released. The moment we stop demanding proof before taking another step.
So cast into the dark.
Not for certainty. Not to test doubt. But to awaken and be witness to guaranteed peace.
However fleeting, however random, enjoy the pure flickers of light.
